My Background
As a Shadow Work Practitioner, I've come to understand the profound impact of our hidden selves. For many years, I not only lived within the confines of my own shadow beliefs but also raised my family while still under their influence.
By "living in the shadows," I mean that past events, traumas, ingrained family beliefs, and patterns of behaviour significantly shaped my life. They affected how I acted and what I allowed in my life. These experiences, along with the emotions and energies I'd internalised around them, kept me from truly living authentically. I allowed the pain, shame, and other difficult emotions to define who I was.
However, by acknowledging these emotions, by naming them and bringing them into the light of awareness, I've been able to feel them fully and then release them. This process has freed me from the stagnation and blockages that once held me captive, allowing me to step into a life of greater freedom and self-discovery.
SHADOW WORK
Think of shadow work as a loving act of uncovering and embracing the hidden parts of ourselves – the aspects we might have tucked away, sometimes even forgotten. It's about learning to navigate and process those emotions that life has thrown our way, the ones we might not have fully dealt with over the years.
These feelings? They don't just disappear. They often become these unseen forces, subtly influencing our behaviors and how we experience the world.
Shadow work offers us a path to compassionately embrace and integrate these hidden parts. It's about creating a safe and supportive space to finally feel those buried emotions, so they no longer unconsciously dictate how we live.
It's important to understand that simply being aware of something isn't the same as actively placing your awareness upon it. It's in that focused attention that we allow our minds and bodies to process, understand, and ultimately release what no longer serves us.
